Architecture Master’s Theses on Lisbon metropolitan waterfront
As part of Final Architecture Design Studio 2018-2019, coordinated by Pedro Pinto several master’s theses were developed by students of the Integrated Master’s Degree in Architecture of the Iscte. The works combine theoretical reflections on different case studies with new outlooks for the riverside area from Trafaria, Torrão to Cova do Vapor.
Located on the south bank of the Tagus River and west of the 25 de Abril Bridge, the study area is characterised by a strong contrast between popular housing structures and large-scale industrial structures. The place of Trafaria appears at the moment when the fossil cliff of Caparica turns towards the river and meets its water plane. It is the transition point between the ocean and the river, facing Lisbon.
The theses are available online at the Iscte repository.
