“Porto Maravilha – The Obsolescence of a model”, a lecture from Jorge Bassani at the USP IEA Symposium
Jorge Bassani, the project researcher, participated in the USP IEA – Institute for Advanced Studies Symposium, at the University of São Paulo, last December 15, 2019, with the communication “Porto Maravilha – The obsolescence of a model” in the panel “Globalisation, Productive Restructuring and Urban Interventions in areas of transformation: the case of Latin American ports”.
In 2016 Rio de Janeiro hosted the XXXI Olympic Games. Among the various works carried out for its realization, was the inauguration of Porto Maravilha, a parasitic work of the great event. The author analyses the operation considering the international models followed, as well as their obsolescence.
