Architectural and urbanistic operations after the 1998 Lisbon World Exposition

Upcoming First Debate “Transformations and Expectant Places – The Waterfronts of the Lisbon Metropolitan Area”

On November 28 will take place at the Thalia Theatre the first debate of the research project. ” Transformations and Expectant Places – The waterfronts of the Lisbon Metropolitan Area ” seeks to promote a debate and reflection on the transformations and the obsolescence in the riverside spaces of the Tagus estuary, as a starting point to debate the territorial changes, of urbanistic and projectual culture occurred in the last 20 years.

We are interested in discussing how the urban transformation processes were conducted, trying to reflect on programmatic issues, such as the changes of uses that occurred and the predominance of certain activities over others, the importance of image and aesthetics in the valuation and promotion of the territories in a competitive context or even the relevance of the different dimensions of sustainability (environmental, social, economic).

The program will be available soon.
